First Line Fridays | Watching You by Lisa Jewell #2019release #suspense

It’s the Friday before Christmas! Are you ready?! I’ve made so much fudge and cookies and OMG Bars that I’m ready for it all to Leave. My. House.

Today’s First Lines comes from Watching You by Lisa Jewell. Releases December 26, 2018.

First Lines:

DC Rose Pelham kneels down; she can see something behind the kitchen door, just in front of the trash can. For a minute she thinks it’s a bloodstained twist of tissue, maybe, or an old bandage. Then she thinks perhaps it is a dead flower. But as she looks at it more closely she can see that it’s a tassel. A red suede tassel. The sort that might once have been attached to a handbag, or to a boot. It sits just on top of a small puddle of blood, strongly suggesting that it had fallen there in the aftermath of the murder.

  1. Happy Friday!

My first lines come from Tin God by Stacy Green….

“That’s impossible.” Jaymee’s stomach lurched and then spiraled to her toes. The meager window air conditioner in the manager’s trailer did nothing for her constricted lungs. She shifted as the torn plastic of the junky folding chair cut into the back of her thigh. “My boyfriend–ex-boyfriend–paid the rent. I gave him the money last week.”

Have an awesome weekend and Happy Holidays!😊🎄💕

  2. Happy Friday!
This week I’m sharing from Castle on the Rise by Kristy Cambron (I have an ARC… doesn’t release until Feb 2019), but it’s also the book I’m currently reading so I’ll share the first line from my current chapter (18) here: “Maeve had just put down her quill to close the estate ledger when the alarm bell clanged outside.” Hope you have the chance to get some reading in this weekend and have a very Merry Christmas! 🙂
