My Review:

Devastating and dark. Emotional and raw. This book and these characters will stay with me. Beautiful prose and a heartbreaking storyline. If you’re a mother this could be a difficult read.

Claire’s two young daughters are abducted in broad daylight and this unimaginable scenario begins a story that shows many sides of the people involved. Claire and her husband Glen must find strength in the face of unspeakable tragedy. How do you continue your day to day life? Do you come to resent the people in your life because they grieve differently? Can anyone really understand what the parent is going through?

One of my favorite people was Indian Jay White and his dream catchers – his storyline was memorable and magical as he struggles with his own demons and his role in the drama he’s been drawn into.

Jay waited a minute before he said goodbye, because Claire was crying. He felt his own tears gathering at edge of his eyes. He stopped himself from losing it, though, because he didn’t want to make the moment worse for her. But when she finally spoke, her voice was clear and strong. “Thank you,” she said. “For doing this with me.”

Side note: I didn’t know anything about Irish Travellers which is a gypsy group that plays an interesting part in the story.

This book is for someone who enjoys beautiful writing coupled with a suspenseful and terrifying storyline.

  1. GAH. Abduction books scare the CRAP out of me, but I still find myself reading them from time to time. This sounds fascinating!
