November Wrap Up #monthinreview #orangecountyreads

November 2019

I had a much better reading month and checked off a “bucket list” bookstore when we visited Powell’s City of Books in Portland Oregon. It was a busy and joyful month and I’m grateful for so much. Here’s my thank YOU post for all the bookish people who have made a difference in this community! Hope all my American friends had a nice Thanksgiving too.

Now, on to the books! I read 9 books which is ⬆️ 3 from October.

  1. All About Evie by Cathy Lamb ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
  2. The World That We knew by Alice Hoffman ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
  3. The Great Unexpected by Dan Mooney ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
  4. Reading People by Anne Boegel ⭐️⭐️⭐️
  5. Tell Me Everything by Amy Hatvany ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
  6. The Wives by Tarryn Fisher ⭐️⭐️(100th book!)
  7. Stories We Never Told by Sonja Yoerg ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
  8. Before the Coffee Gets Cold by Toshikazu Kawaguchi ⭐️⭐️
  9. This Is Not How It Ends by Rochelle Weinstein ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Blog News &  Reading Highlights

Goodreads Challenge. I had set a goal of 100 books and reached it with the whole month of December to go! For December, I plan to read lots of Christmas books, and whatever catches my eye!

Nonfiction November: This is my favorite month in terms of blog engagement and it’s so fun to see what everyone is reading. This is my second year participating and the highlight is always the fiction/nonfiction pairings (and it’s also my highest viewed post this month). You can catch up on all the posts below.

Week 1 – My Year In Nonfiction

Week 2 – Book Pairings

Week 3 – Become the Expert

Week 4 – Qualities of Great Nonfiction

Week 5 – New to My TBR

Trip to Portland, Oregon, and Cathy Lamb event! Powells was amazing, and I really liked the vibe of the city.  It was pretty cold, but everyone was dressed down, warm and comfortable and people seemed relaxed and chill. I couldn’t get over the no sales tax thing, it made everything seem so inexpensive.  The Doc Marten flagship store was across the street from Powells and I couldn’t resist getting a new pair! Portland also has a lot of coffee places and gourmet donuts.  We tried VooDoo donuts and Blue Star donuts – Blue Star was the winner for flavor and taste. Lastly, the trees!  I must have taken 100 pictures of just the trees and the fall foliage.  Just gorgeous!

Upcoming Events

Bookstagram Meetup – I’m organizing a holiday book-swap/meetup this next weekend and I’m so excited! Looking forward to meeting some new and old book friends.

A Month of Faves: December will be full of fun posts as I join Girl XOXO and Traveling with T as we look back at the books we read in 2019. Join in here.

Booksparks Instagram Photo Challenge. ⤵️ I’m thinking of joining in on a few days!

Lastly, I’ve updated the calendar with some amazing author events happening soon! Southern California Readers, check it out.
